PA Pork Leaders Attend 2024 National Pork Industry Forum

The National Pork Industry Forum was hosted in Chicago, IL March 5-7, 2024. This event, hosted

by the National Pork Board (NPB) and National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) serves as the annual meeting for the delegate body or the two organizations.

Pork Forum brings industry members together to focus on key issues that impact the pork industry. Sessions provide opportunities for producers to learn about potential threats, seek solutions, have key discussions and ultimately vote on resolutions and elect board members.

Pennsylvania (PA) was well represented at the event with seven members attending. PA Pork Producers Council (PPPC) President Ben Barcovtch was in attendance, along with Coleman Wagner and Drew Derstein who served as representatives to the NPB Delegate body.

NPPC Delegate representatives from PA were Aaron Ott, Matthew Walters and Kurt Good.

Bob Ruth, retired past president of Country View Family Farms in Middletown, PA has served as the National Pork Board president for the past year. A zealous advocate for the pork industry, Bob has focused his tenure on bringing collaboration and demand drivers to the forefront. In his closing remarks, he encouraged leaders in the room to continue collaboration, to look for the future and remain positive about the pork industry.

PPPC President Ben Barcovtch who has attended several National Pork Forums said “each year, attending Pork Forum is a great time to hear from industry leaders, learn from other producers and reconnect with peers. Pennsylvania remains a key pork producing state with a unique link to high population areas, Forum helps to renew our commitment to promoting pork across the Northeast.”
