Information to Help You Succeed in the Barn

The event, hosted by the PennAg Poultry Council and Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council will include educational sessions especially designed for Pennsylvania’s pork and poultry producers.The first session for pork producers will begin at 7:15 a.m. and include an update from the PRRS/PEDv Task Force and updates on a variety of swine health topics.

Keynote Session

You won’t want to miss the keynote presentations beginning at 10:30AM from Dr. Steve Meyer and Ryan Bennett. Dr. Meyer is an Economist with Kern and Associates that you may recognize from his feature column for National Hog Farmer’s NHF Daily e-letter that focuses on economic issues in North America’s swine/pork sector. He’ll present valuable information on trade, tariffs and other economic perspectives on agriculture. Ryan Bennett, recently named Executive Director of the US Roundtable for Sustainable Poultry & Eggs (US-RSPE) and the International Poultry Welfare Alliance (IPWA), will join the discussion, speaking on the story of animal care and sustainability in agriculture. He’ll also highlight the need to communicate the industry’s progress among the entire food chain – from farm to fork – in a meaningful and transparent way in order to reach full potential.

PQA and TQA Certification

Whether you are looking to renew your certification or looking to become certified for the first time, take part in the PQA Plus certification training at 1:30 p.m. and Transport Quality Assurance (TQA) certification starting at 2:45 p.m.  Bring a pencil since both training’s will include a short exam following the session.  All other training materials will be provided.

Trade Show

Throughout the day, visit the Trade Show, where you’ll find more than 90 agribusinesses eager to talk with you about the latest innovations in technology, products and services, all available to help you reach your pork production goals. National Pork Board will be on hand to offer updates on available checkoff resources and what they’re doing to help keep the pork industry safe and successful both nationally and in Pennsylvania. The trade show will close at 3PM.

Buffet Lunch at Spooky Nook – New location but same great PA Dutch hospitality!

Attendees will be able to enjoy some PA Dutch hospitality by purchasing a lunch ticket at registration for $5 per person. Discounted lunch tickets must be purchased prior to 10 a.m. to receive the $5 price. After 10 a.m., lunch tickets will be sold at the full price of $15, so be sure to arrive early to save $10 on a great lunch!
